Overview
The 3-days desert excursion from Marrakech via Fez through the dunes of Merzouga and camel ride includes crossing the High Atlas, visiting Kasbah Ben Haddou and the film studios in Ouarzazate, visiting the Dades and Todra Gorges, and spending a night in a desert camp under the starry sky.
Itinerary
We will start our journey towards Ouarzazate leaving Marrakech behind to embark on an unforgettable experience. During the journey, we will cross the astonishing landscapes of the High Atlas through the incredible Tizi n'Tichka pass, 2,260 meters high. Halfway through, we will arrive at the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, one of the most beautiful and fascinating places in Morocco. The astonishing fortified city of Ait Ben Haddou has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987. Several series and movies such as Lawrence of Arabia, The Mummy, Gladiator, Game of Thrones, and Alexander the Great were filmed here. Continuing our route, we will arrive at Ouarzazate, where we will see the Kasbah of Taourirt, the former residence of one of the most powerful governors of the region and also declared a World Heritage Site. Taking the Road of the Thousand Kasbahs towards Skoura, we will cross the Rose Valley to finally reach the Dades Gorges where we will stay (sometimes we stay in Skoura).
After breakfast, we will continue our journey towards the Dades Valley and cross the incredible Todra Gorges to explore and enjoy the wonderful landscape of this valley. Then, continuing on the road towards Merzouga, we will cross the Jorf Palmeral, where the best dates come from. We will have lunch before reaching Erfoud, a small town known for fossil fragments. After lunch, we will head straight to Merzouga, where we will leave the vehicle to take a 1.5-hour camel ride and venture into the desert. At the end of the camel ride, we will arrive at the camp where we will spend the night. There, in the most wonderful landscape of Erg Chebbi desert, we will enjoy a delicious and authentic Moroccan dinner.
Start the last day witnessing sunrise in the desert? After living an unforgettable experience and being fascinated by the reddish tones of the sun over the desert dunes, we will have a leisurely breakfast and we will ride our camels again to head out of the dunes (Quad motorcycle option).
Once clean, relaxed and satiated, we will begin the road to Fez, passing through Tafilalet, the origin of the Alawite sultans and the place where this famous dynasty that still continues to reign in Morocco today.
Later, we will continue our trip passing through Azrou and Ifrane, where we will stop at the so-called monkey forest to respectfully admire these beautiful animals and even interact with them by feeding them.
After finishing our meeting with the friendly primates, we will resume our journey to arrive in Fez approximately an hour and a quarter later, around 5:00 p.m. End of our service
