Departure after breakfast from your riad/hotel in Fez towards Ifrane. We will cross the cedar forest of Azrou, where we will stop to see and take photos with the monkeys living there. Next, we will go to Medilt for lunch. Then we will head to the Ziz Valley where we will stop to see the palm grove and the villages in this valley. We will pass through Errachidia, Arfoud, and Rissani to reach Merzouga (Erg Chebbi). After a cup of tea, we will ride camels for 1 hour and 30 minutes to enjoy the breathtaking view of the sunset over the large sand dunes of Erg Chebbi. After dinner, you will have the opportunity to attend a traditional Berber music show while observing the stars and the crescent moon in the impressive Sahara Desert. Overnight in camps.
This day will be a day of total desert exploration. After a hearty and rich breakfast, we will circle around Erg Chebbi, an expanse of sand desert where the Great Dune of Morocco is located, over 250 meters high. We will connect by track with part of the route followed by the former Paris-Dakar rally and with the mountains bordering Algeria in the background. Stop at the Tissardmin oasis where we can find fossil races still present in this region, and then continue towards a nomadic settlement where we will learn some of the secrets of their life and customs. Later, we will stop at a panoramic point where we can contemplate Erg Chebbi as a whole. We will reach the village of Khamlia, originally from Mali, where we will relax with tea while enjoying a small concert of Gnawa spiritual music. Then return to the hotel to embark on a camel caravan to enter the heart of the dunes and witness an unforgettable sunset. We will arrive with the camels at the camp located in a wild oasis where we will stay in Berber tents made of camel hair, similar to those used by desert nomads. Dinner and night in tents in the heart of the desert under a spectacular blanket of stars.
Before sunrise, our camel guide will wake you up to climb the dunes and find the sun emerging above the horizon. We will start the camel journey back. Then we head towards Arfoud, famous for its fossilized marble factories before continuing towards Touroug to reach the Todra Valley, where we will have lunch. Then we will go to the gorges. The Todra River has formed a gorge with enormous vertical walls of great beauty; it is a paradise for climbers and a unique place. We will take a half-hour walk to leisurely explore the gorges. In the afternoon, we will continue towards the Dades Valley passing through Boumalne. We will arrive at the Dades Gorges with several stops for photos. Dinner and accommodation in the Lodge.
After breakfast, we will take a short walk in the Dades Gorges before heading to Marrakech. We will follow the Dades Valley through El Kelaa Magona, the Valley of Roses, and the road of a thousand kasbahs until we reach Ouarzazate, where we will see the Taourirt Kasbah, then we will go to the village of Ait Ben Haddou. We will have time to explore the famous UNESCO protected site, which has appeared in many movies such as Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, and many more. Then we will drive through the stunning landscapes of the High Atlas to arrive in Marrakech around 7 p.m., end of our service.
