Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival in Marrakech

We will wait for you at the airport in Marrakech with a sign bearing the name of the agency Todo Marruecos Tours, to welcome you and transfer you to your accommodation for the first night. Depending on the arrival time, if there is time we can visit the Menara Garden and the new part of the city.

Day 2 - Marrakech – Guided Tour of the Old Medina

Marrakech was founded in 1062, has numerous monuments that are World Heritage Sites, and is one of the four imperial cities of Morocco, along with Meknes, Fez, and Rabat. It is a city of contrasts. Its bustling streets and labyrinthine souks (traditional markets) contrast with the calm of its riads and the tranquility of its gardens. We will begin our tour of Marrakech with a local guide who will show you the secrets of the second oldest city in Morocco.

WE WILL VISIT:

– The Koutoubia Mosque: The minaret of this famous mosque is the great symbol of Marrakech. It is also the tallest building in the city and can be seen from various points of the capital.

– The Saadian Tombs: There are 3 mausoleums here, and this is where the family of the Saadian dynasty that ruled at the end of the 16th century is buried.

– The Bahia Palace: Built at the end of the 19th century, with the intention of being the largest palace of all time, and also the spectacular Ben Youssef Madrasa.

– We will also enter the Medina and walk through the labyrinthine alleys that make up the famous souk of Marrakech.

– Jemaa el-Fnaa Square: This is the city’s main square, where you can find everything: street food stalls, chic rooftop cafés, game and juice stands, henna artists, snake charmers, musicians, dancers, and much more.

After lunch, we will continue our visit to the Majorelle Garden and the Yves Saint Laurent museum. The tour ends at 5:00 PM. You will have free time in the evening.

Day 3 - Excursion to Essaouira

Essaouira or the pearl of the Atlantic, this World Heritage city retains the charm and authenticity of a land lost in time. Essaouira has become a must-visit in a trip to Morocco. The adventurous explorer will be fascinated by the hospitable kindness of the people of this city, which is no surprise since they have lived for centuries at the crossroads of cultures, civilizations, and religions. The city is well known for its thuya wood workshops and women’s argan oil cooperatives. On our excursion to Essaouira, we propose a stop at a women’s cooperative to see a demonstration of local women preparing argan oil.

Upon arrival in the city, you can take a free walk in the Medina of Essaouira, visit the port, and then enjoy a grilled fresh fish lunch in the local port restaurants. If you wish, we can arrange a local guide to give you a city tour.

The excursion from Marrakech to Essaouira starts as early as possible (recommended) to make the most of the day.

IMPORTANT PLACES NOT TO MISS DURING YOUR FREE VISIT OF THE CITY:

– Skala of the Port: a bastion with cannons offering a beautiful view of the fishing port and the Island of Mogador.

– Skala of the City: an impressive marine bastion built on the cliffs. This part of the city was the filming location for season 3 of Game of Thrones.

– The Port: with blue boats and port activities, where you can find fishermen selling the catch of the day.

– Moulay el Hassan Square, the heart of the town, surrounded by cafés and terraces where you can enjoy the ambiance at sunset.

– The Great Mosque, Siaguin Street (home to silver jewelers), and the squares of Bab el Sebaa and Chez Chaoni, where you’ll find the famous L’Horloge café.

– The old Pasha Palace from the 19th century, which houses the Museum of National Arts.

– To the north lies the old Jewish quarter or Mellah, with old synagogues surrounded by a market, near Bab Marrakech gate.

SCHEDULE:
– Departure from Hotel: Around 08:00 in the morning.
– Arrival in Marrakech: Around 19:00 in the evening.
– Duration of Marrakech – Essaouira trip: approximately 3 hours.

Shortly after crossing the Atlas, we arrive at the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, an incredible fortified city declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where many films were shot such as Gladiator, Babel, and Lawrence of Arabia. After the visit, we continue on the Road of the Thousand Kasbahs towards Skoura, stopping at the Kasbah of Amridil. From there we head to Kelaat M’gouna, the capital of the Valley of Roses, where in spring the entire area turns pink and smells amazing. We can visit shops selling rose water, soaps, and cosmetics. We continue towards Dades Gorge where we stay. Hotel/Kasbah/Dinner.

With renewed energy we take the road to Merzouga and cross the Jorf Palm Grove, known for the best dates, and Erfoud, a charming town where you can visit a fossil workshop. Once in Merzouga, and after taking in the striking image of the dunes, we leave the vehicle and ride camels into the desert for an overnight stay at the camp. We will enjoy one of the most authentic dinners in all of Morocco under the dunes and the stars.

Day 6 - Merzouga – Rissani – Tazarine – Draa Valley – Agdez – Ouarzazate

Start this day witnessing the sunrise in the desert, something not to be missed. After this unforgettable experience and marveling at the reddish hues of the sun on the dunes of the desert, we’ll have breakfast and return by camel to the starting point from the previous day. On our way back to Ouarzazate we take a different route, passing the Tafilalet Palm Grove and the town of Rissani (origin of the Alaouite dynasty and former capital). We reach Alnif, then take the road that crosses the Anti-Atlas range, admiring its wonderful mountain landscapes.

We then arrive at Tazarine (an important Berber town), N’kob, and finally the Draa Valley and its extraordinary palm grove. In the afternoon we cross the Anti-Atlas through the Tizi Ntnifift pass (1,660 m) towards Ouarzazate, where we spend the night in a Riad/Kasbah. Dinner.

Day 7 - Ouarzazate – Marrakech

At 9:00 AM, after breakfast, we’ll begin our guided tour of the medina. The medina of Fez was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1981 and is one of the largest walled cities in the world. It was founded in the year 790 AD. We’ll explore its narrow streets full of vendors selling fresh fruit, spices, Berber carpets, and many other Moroccan crafts.

We’ll visit the Royal Palace, the tanneries, the pottery makers, and also the oldest university in the world, founded before Oxford and the Sorbonne. We’ll have lunch in the center of the medina in a traditional restaurant. After lunch, we’ll continue the tour of the medina and return to the hotel around 4:00 PM. Dinner may be at a local restaurant with show. Overnight stay in Fez.

Accommodation with breakfast in Rabat.

Day 10 - Rabat – Chefchaouen

After breakfast we head towards Chefchaouen. Today we’ll tour the city of Chefchaouen with a Spanish-speaking local guide. Chefchaouen is a beautiful white and blue city nestled in the mountains.
