A unique 2-day experience from Fez to the majestic Erg Chebbi dunes in Merzouga. You will cross the impressive landscapes of the Middle Atlas, with stops in Ifrane (the “Switzerland of Morocco”) and the cedar forests of Azrou where Barbary monkeys live. Upon arrival in the desert, enjoy a magical sunset camel ride and spend the night in a luxury camp beneath the stars. Traditional Berber dinner around the campfire and rest in an elegant haima equipped with every comfort. The next day, watch the sunrise over the dunes before returning to Fez.

Pickup in Fez at the hotel or riad, airport, or any location you choose, at 8 a.m. We head south, crossing the Middle Atlas Mountains until reaching Ifrane, known as “the little Moroccan Switzerland” because of its strong resemblance to that country. One of the animals that once lived here was the Atlas lion, now the city’s symbol and honored with a stone statue in its center. We will stop to take photos. We continue through the famous cedar forests, see the region’s largest thousand-year-old cedar, and feed the hundreds of Barbary monkeys that inhabit the area. Lunch in Midelt, then in the afternoon we pass the Ziz Valley—more than 20 km of palm groves and 10 million palms, making it one of the largest in the world. Arrival in Merzouga, welcome tea at our hotel, then our first desert experience: we leave the vehicle for a 1-hour camel ride and a spectacular sunset as we enter the Erg Chebbi dunes. After the ride, we reach the camp where we will spend the night. Dinner and overnight in haimas in the heart of the desert under a spectacular blanket of stars.
“Meeting with the Sunrise.” Being in the desert, it is advisable to rise early, walk to the highest dune near the camp to enjoy sunrise and the relaxing landscape nature offers, have breakfast, and then return by camel to the edge of the dunes. Once ready, we head north through the Tafilalet Palm Grove, where over 20 km you will see countless palms—one of the largest groves in the world. Crossing it, we reach the Ziz Valley, named after the river descending from the High Atlas that feeds the grove. We stop to view the valley from above. A planned stop in Midelt, in the heart of the Atlas, lets us rest and have lunch. Later we continue, again passing through the Cedar Forest. Arrival in Fez around 18:00, transfer to the accommodation you specify. End of our services.
