We leave Marrakech toward Ouarzazate, crossing the High Atlas Mountains via the scenic Tizi N’Tichka Pass (2,260 m). We’ll stop for photos at panoramic viewpoints. Midway, we arrive at the fortified village of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site featured in films such as Gladiator, The Mummy, Game of Thrones, and more.
Continuing to Ouarzazate, we visit the Taourirt Kasbah, the former residence of a regional governor. Then we follow the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs through the Rose Valley, arriving at the Dades Gorges for dinner and overnight stay.
After breakfast, we explore the Dades Valley and continue toward the stunning Todra Gorges. We then travel through the Jorf Palm Grove and arrive in Erfoud, famous for its fossil workshops.
Later, we reach Merzouga where we begin a 1-hour camel ride into the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi. At our desert camp, we enjoy a delicious Moroccan dinner, Berber music by the fire, and a night under the stars.
Wake up early to witness the desert sunrise. After breakfast and a camel ride back, we drive toward Fez via Tafilalet, the origin of Morocco’s Alaouite dynasty. We pass through the scenic Ziz Valley, the Mid-Atlas Mountains, and stop in Azrou and Ifrane. In the Cedar Forest near Azrou, we’ll see Barbary monkeys and enjoy nature.
We continue to Fez, arriving around 5:00 PM.
