Introduction

8-Day Route to explore the highlights of Morocco: Marrakech, Desert, Fez, Chefchaouen, Rabat, and Casablanca. We explore the best of the Sahara Desert and landscapes in the High Atlas Mountains. Itinerary

Day 1 - Marrakech – Depending on Arrival Time – Visit Marrakech

We will pick you up from Marrakech airport and transfer you to your hotel/riad. Depending on the arrival time, we can begin visiting the old city the same day.

– Koutoubia Mosque: Marrakech’s most iconic minaret and tallest building.
– Saadian Tombs (next to Kasbah Mosque): Three mausoleums where members of the Saadian dynasty are buried.
– Bahia Palace: Built in the late 19th century with the intention of being the most magnificent palace.
– Ben Youssef Madrasa.
– Jemaa el-Fnaa Square: The city’s main square filled with food stalls, cafés, performers, henna, snake charmers, and more.

We recommend enjoying Jemaa el-Fnaa during your free time.

Day 2 - Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Dades Gorge

After breakfast, we begin our journey toward Ouarzazate, crossing the High Atlas Mountains and Tizi N’Tichka Pass. We stop to take photographs and enjoy panoramic views. We visit Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and filming location for Gladiator, The Mummy, and more. Guided visit with a local guide. After lunch, we continue to Ouarzazate, where we stop for pictures at Taourirt Kasbah and Atlas Studios. Then we continue to Boumalne Dades via the Valley of Roses. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Dades Gorge.

Day 3 - Dades Valley – Todra Gorges – Sahara

After breakfast, we travel to Tinghir and explore the Todra Gorge. We then stop for lunch before heading to Erfoud and continue to the Erg Chebbi dunes in Merzouga. Night in luxury tents next to the dunes, with a starry sky. Dinner and overnight in tents.

Day 4 - Sahara – Midelt – Ifrane – Fez

We wake early to enjoy a magical sunrise in the dunes. After breakfast and camel ride, we continue through Erfoud and Errachidia. We stop to photograph the Ziz Valley. We pass through Azrou and Ifrane in the Cedar Forest before arriving in Fez, one of Morocco’s oldest imperial cities. Dinner and overnight at hotel/riad.

Day 5 - Fez – Guided Tour of the Old Medina

At 9:00 AM, after breakfast, we begin a guided tour of the medina. Fez, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1981, is one of the largest walled cities in the world. It was founded in 790 AD. We explore the narrow streets full of fresh produce, spices, Berber rugs, and Moroccan crafts. We visit the Royal Palace, tanneries, pottery workshops, and the oldest university in the world, established before Oxford and the Sorbonne. Lunch in the medina at a traditional restaurant. We continue the visit after lunch and return to the hotel around 4:00 PM. Dinner can be at a local restaurant with a show.

Day 6 - Fez – Meknes – Volubilis – Chefchaouen

After breakfast, we travel to Chefchaouen, located in the only intercontinental natural park. Chefchaouen is a beautiful blue and white city in the mountains. Along the way, we visit the Roman ruins of Volubilis.

Day 7 - Chefchaouen – Rabat

After breakfast, we leave for Rabat, Morocco’s administrative capital. Upon arrival, we visit the old city walls, Kasbah of the Udayas, Mausoleum of Mohammed V, Hassan Tower, and the administrative palace. Overnight stay in Rabat.

Day 8 - Rabat – Casablanca – Marrakech

After breakfast, we head to Casablanca, Morocco’s economic capital, a 1-hour drive. We visit the Hassan II Mosque for 1 hour, then stroll along the Casablanca beach. After lunch, we continue to Marrakech via highway (3-hour drive), arriving around 6:00 PM. Overnight in Marrakech.
