This 4-day desert tour from Marrakech to the Erg Chebbi dunes in Merzouga includes a camel ride, a visit to Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, the Ouarzazate film studios, the Dades and Todra Gorges, and a night in a luxury camp under a blanket of stars.

After picking you up from your hotel/riad or the airport, we head to Ouarzazate. Along the way, we cross the High Atlas via the stunning Tizi N’Tichka pass (2,260 meters), stopping for photo opportunities.
We soon reach the fortified village of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO site where many films like Gladiator, Babel, and Lawrence of Arabia were shot. We continue on the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs to Skoura and stop at the Amridil Kasbah.
Next, we drive through Kelaat M’gouna, the capital of the Valley of Roses, famous in spring for its pink hues and floral scents. We can visit local shops selling rose water, soaps, and cosmetics. We then head to the Dades Gorges for dinner and overnight stay in a hotel/Kasbah.
After breakfast, we continue to the Dades Valley and cross the impressive Todra Gorges. After lunch, we travel to Merzouga via the Jorf Palm Grove, known for producing the best dates, and pass through Erfoud, where you can visit a marble fossil workshop. Once in Merzouga, we switch to camels and ride into the dunes to reach our camp. Dinner is served under the stars with authentic Moroccan food.
We start the day with a sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast and a return camel ride, we take a different route back. We pass the Tafilalet Palm Grove and the town of Rissani, the origin of the Alaouite dynasty and former capital of the sultans. We continue through Alnif and cross the Anti-Atlas mountains to Tazarine, a major Berber town, and N’kob. We then pass through the Draa Valley with its incredible palm grove. In the afternoon, we cross the Tizi Ntnifift Pass (1,660 meters) to Ouarzazate for the night.
After breakfast, we visit the famous Taourirt Kasbah and the Atlas Film Studios, the most important in Africa. We drive back to Marrakech, enjoying the scenery of the Atlas Mountains and the traditional Berber villages. Arrival in Marrakech around 4:00 PM.

The meeting point for this excursion is your accommodation (hotel, riad, or hostel). If it’s an Airbnb, it’s in front of the door.
